Following last weekend’s home loss to Chester-Le-Street, the Hatters travelled to the Midlands for a FAWNL cup determining round fixture against Bedworth United.
The hosts proves tough to break down in the first half, with County taking 35 minutes to have their first attempt on goal. The first attempt of the game fell to the right player too, as Chloe Mapp rifled an effort from the edge of the box to give the Hatters the lead at the break. Chloe Williams made some excellent saves to keep the home side at bay too, as County repeatedly got opened up at the back.

County took the lead again after the short break between the 90 minutes and extra-time through Emma Massey, who’s scuffed shot fooled the opposition ‘keeper and rolled slowly into the back of the net.
But the joy was short-lived as the hosts ran to the other end and applied more pressure. Eventually, they managed to break through with Williams bringing down an opposition attacker for a penalty, which was swiftly tucked home from 12 yards. United then took the lead as a looping free-kick was headed by captain Jodie Hancock beyond her own ‘keeper and into the back of the net.
